Incorporated in 1998 RCG External Building Solutions is an established, trusted, and well organised commercial, and domestic installation business. Our key supplier Marley Alutec, recommended RCG for this project. Whereby a joint approach was undertaken, to deliver bespoke products, within budget and to the required time parameters.

The issues posed, was to have what appeared as seamless fascia and copings, looking like one piece, with there being no signs of any fixings. This was achieved by the clever design of the individual sections, with hidden back plates and using a specially formulated SEKA Adhesive.

Marley Alutec is known for its marketing leading, innovate, Aluminium Rainwater, fascia’s, soffits, and coping solutions. Whereby this scheme with the assistance of Marley Alutec has allowed RCG External Building Solutions to offer this type of bespoke design service to many other clients. Kingsway Gardens


Project Details

Scope of Works: Redesign of rainwater goods, roofline, balcony & door screens

Project Partners: Stepnells / Aster Housing Association / Floplast

The Kingsway Gardens project with Stepnells, came to fruition on Aster Housing recommending RCG. As a result of a relationship extending over a decade. The Aster Group manage a housing stock of over 28,000 with a revenue of +£200M.

The Kingsway Gardens project was awarded through a competitive tender process, with input from RCG, Stepnells were successful. RCG’s role was to carry out the supply and installation of double glazed UPVC balcony door and side screens combinations. Along with a complete re-design of the pre-existing rainwater system.

Working with one of the industry’s leading manufacturers, Floplast. RCG with the help of Floplast, designed and delivered a new high capacity UPVC Rainwater system. Which replaced the old aluminium rainwater system, with a low maintenance alternative.

Mitie Group


Project Details

Scope of Works: UPVC Roofline, UPVC Windows & Composite Doors

Project Partner: Work carried out for Mitie at various locations throughout the UK

Contract Value: £450,000 (Annually)

RCG originally started carrying out the installation of fascia, soffit, and rainwater goods. For the Mitie Bristol office, as a result of a recommendation from DRUM Housing Association, some 8 years ago.

We have continued to undertake, various one-off projects for Mitie on behalf, of RSL’s, local authorities and housing associations. The projects have included, UPVC windows, composite doors and rainwater goods. Sometimes a combination of all three elements for the same properties.

We currently have on-going contracts for the delivery of roofline, cladding, windows, doors and glazing projects using a wide range of UPVC, fibre cement, aluminium, and timber building materials.

RCG External Building Solution as of November 2018, became an official framework provider for Mitie Group.

Wrekin Windows


Project Details

Scope of work: Installation of UPVC windows, composite front & rear doors, entrance doors, Marley Cedral Lap cladding

Project Partner: Aster Housing

Contract Value: £400,000+

2nd phase: Completion due April 2019

Aster Housing Association recommended RCG (Aster contractor for many years), to Wrekin Windows (currently Aster’s preferred UPVC window supplier), to work in partnership, in finding the solution, to improve the resident’s environment as regards thermal efficiency, condensation and damp issues.

We approached these improvements by installing, new windows and doors as supplied by Wrekin, then built a new sub frame, installed phenolic insulation board and vapour barrier. Marley Cedral lap fibre cement weather boarding provided the finish to this total facelift, which resulted in the task being met, along with a Class 0, fire rating.

The properties are old pre-fabricated 1970-80’s properties, in terraced blocks of 5. With private households sporadically located throughout the site. These works were undertaken, with the residents in situ, with no disturbances to the neighbouring private households.

Bagshot Infant School


Project Details

Scope of Works: Replacement aluminium windows & entrance doors.

Project Partner: Surrey Heath Borough Council

Contract Value: £40,000

Duration: 4 weeks

Roberts Building Services (RBS) approached RCG during the tender stage, for the replacement of aluminium windows and doors to the kitchen, dining area and offices of Bagshot Infant School, with the works needing to be undertaken out of term time.

Surrey Heath Borough Council required entrance and fire escape doors to be fitted with specialist push/escape handles, rather than traditional systems. Solar Glazing was also required to the south facing elevation, as there had been historical issues due to direct Solar radiation.

RCG’s solution working with Complete Aluminium (manufacturer) and ALUK (profile extruder) managed to source, the correct hardware from Europe to meet the client’s requirements. The glass was procured from Hampshire based County Glass.

The 1st phase was completed during the Easter Holidays 2018. With the 2nd phase being completed during in the summer of 2018. Working in the Educational sector, it was critical to deliver the project, out of term time.

Fairways


Project Details

Scope of Work: Aluminum fascia and rainwater goods

Project Partner: Alutec

Contract Value: £100,000

Duration: 10 Weeks

RCG External Building Solutions, secured these works, by being introduced to the project providers, by Alutec.

The specification required Marley Alutec’s Evolve box guttering and Evoke fascias and soffits. This aluminium system has a life expectancy of up to 50 years or more. Is highly corrosion resistant and will never rust or need re-painting. Whereas it requires little or no maintenance.

In addition, the Evoke range is also available in a choice of 12 PVDF paint options, which includes Nano surface technology able to resist the build-up of dust, grime and algae, reducing the need for regular maintenance further.

The Marley Alutec team was on hand throughout the project, providing RCG with technical support. Due to good forward planning, the quality of the products and the good design of installation, whereby RCG completed the project in six weeks, well within the time constraint.

Fire Doors


Project Details

Scope of Work: Replace the existing PVCU front door with a Fire Door

RCG External Building Solutions replaced the existing PVCU door with a new Fire Door in Portsmouth as per the requirements of our Client.

The door was one of 8 fitted to this location which required the incorporation of specified timbers to achieve the opening sizes required whilst maintaining the fire integrity for the opening.

Working closely with our Client and our Door supplier to achieve the final specification, delivery timescales and fitting schedules with the residents.

Stradling Road Liniar PVCU window replacement works Bristol 2022


Project Details

Scope of Work: Replacement PVCU window works to 3 blocks of flats in Bristol

RCG carried out the replacement PVCU window works to 3 blocks of flats in Bristol, working closely with our client we redesigned the windows to comply with current regulations including egress as well as offering Pas 24 security where required.

The project consisted of a total of approx. 484 frames throughout the three-blocks including communal areas.

RCG worked with our client to liaise with all residents to ensure a smooth consistent program of works enabling us to finish well within the required programme time.

Holmewood Roofline replacement programme 2022


Project Details

Scope of Work: Replacement roofline program to 36 no Bungalows for our client in Bristol

RCG undertook the replacement roofline program to 36 no Bungalows for our client in Bristol, the works consisted of the full replacement of existing timber, asbestos cement soffits (removed by others) and rainwater goods and replacing with new Swish white fascia and soffit with Marley deep flow rainwater goods.

RCG liaised with the scheme manager in order to book the works and complete the programme due to some residents having mobility issues.

All works were carried to a high standard with the client and residents all happy with the finished end result.

Stroud Archway Gardens refurbishment works.


Project Details

Scope of Work: Rejuvenation of the Archway Gardens estate in Stroud

RCG was part of the rejuvenation of the Archway gardens estate in Stroud, the works for this project included the replacement of roofline and rainwater goods in PVCU as well as installing Cedral click fibre cement cladding to various areas within the scheme.

We also completed the replacement of 176 bin store doors to the various apartment blocks within the scheme as the old ones were insecure and were often getting broken in to and the contents stolen or vandalised.

Replacing with new PVCu doors with hi security locking mechanisms has improved the security as well as offering lower maintenance as they can now be cleaned down instead of having to be painted on a regular basis.
